In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded both the Nobel Peace Prize and the Balzan Prize for promoting peace and brotherhood among the nations. Upon receipt of the former she was asked, "What can we do to promote world peace?" Her answer was simple: "Go home and love your family."
I suppose this comment is in danger of being dismissed as rather trite. Except that:
1. Mother Teresa was extremely hardcore.
2. Loving your family well is probably more difficult than founding a successful and reputable charity organization.

Years ago I was told that our priorities should be (a) God, (b) family, (c) ministry... in that order. The reason being, if God is first priority we will be equipped spiritually to do the latter. In 1 Tmothy 3 we are told that we must manage our family well. If we do not invest spiritually, mentally, and spiritually in home and family, how can we possibly be qualified to go outside the home and try to manage there? When the order of priority gets turned around, nothing is done well. Mother Theresa was correct.
